Caring for your ceramics

All of my work is made from high-quality stoneware and midfire clays and all glazes are lead free, mixed by hand in my studio and not commercially manufactured. Each piece is handmade and a one of a kind and feature imperfections inherent to the ceramic process. All work is water-tight, unless specified otherwise in the description. With some pieces, handles and spouts are designed to be light, fragile or rudimentary, so care is needed when picking up and handling. Due to the groggy nature of some of the clays I use, it is important not to drag pieces across tables/furniture as it may cause scratches.

Sustainable packaging

All ceramics are packaged in recycled or recyclable packaging. Where recycled packaging has been used, it has been saved from landfill. Styrofoam packaging peanuts are completely dissolvable – pop them in the shower and run water over them.

Shipping and pick-up

Currently I only ship to addresses within Australia but hope to change this in the future. You also have the option of pick up from Kyneton (Fridays to Tuesdays) or South Melbourne (Wednesday and Thursday) by arrangement. Choose “local pickup” at checkout for this option.

My ceramics studio is based in Kyneton, Victoria. Online purchases will be shipped within three business days. If there are any delays to this, I’ll notify you as soon as possible. Shipping is a flat rate of $15.

Breakages in transit

If you receive an item that has been damaged during transit, please email me at cassandrajhansen@gmail.com on the same day you receive your parcel. In your email, please include photos of your broken items, as well as the packaging and delivery label for my records. You will also need to take the broken item and all its packaging to an Australia Post shop for an assessment and damage report (annoying, I know, but this must be done by the recipient). I purchase Extra Cover insurance for all packages and the damage report will speed up the claims process. You can read more about the process here.
